During his hospital admission, Alberto received a grim prognosis. His father died from COVID three days into his stay, followed by his mother six days later. His wife, Karla, delayed sharing this devastating news to protect his recovery. After 40 days hospitalized, Alberto emerged unable to walk independently or breathe without supplemental oxygen.
