Why I Give: Michele and Vincent Cortes on 15 Years of Partnership with AltaMed

Michele and Vincent Cortes established their endowment in 2020, funding women and children's health initiatives after 15 years of partnership with AltaMed. Their generosity reflects a deep belief in giving back to the communities that shaped them.

Michele and Vincent Cortes, native Los Angeles residents and successful business owners, established the Michele and Vincent Cortes Endowment in 2020 during the pandemic. Both grew up without material wealth but maintained strong community values.

15 Years of Partnership

Initially, when we began working with AltaMed, we saw the amount of effort and impact that the AltaMed programs were having on the community.

Giving Back to the Community

As a child, I remember people who didn't have much...AltaMed reaches out to many different facets of the family and of the community.

Focus on Women and Children

Michele serves as a member of the AltaMed Women and Children's Committee, focusing their philanthropic efforts on women and children's health and preventative care initiatives. The couple organized the Hard Hat Comedy Show fundraising event, raising nearly $300,000 for AltaMed programs.

We understand that it's very important to provide mothers with needed resources so that their health and their family can flourish.

Everything has been so exciting for us. Being able to see our work...is really rewarding because you see its impact on patients and doctors.
