What We Support
Whole patient care means recognizing that health is shaped by more than a diagnosis.
It is influenced by the air we breathe, the food we eat, the jobs we hold, and the communities we call home. Through strategic investments across care, education, economic stability, we support the many factors that allow individuals and families to thrive.

Nurses
THE ALTAMED NURSING SCHOOL COLLABORATIVE
California faces a projected shortage of 65,000 registered nurses by 2037, with 68% of qualified applicants turned away from nursing schools due to limited capacity. The AltaMed Nursing School Collaborative addresses this gap by recruiting, mentoring, training, and placing nurses from within our workforce through structured, supported career pathways.

Pediatric Dental Sedation
SPECIALIZED CARE PROGRAM
AltaMed's Pediatric Dental Sedation Program is Orange County's primary resource for low-income children with complex medical and behavioral needs. The program delivers specialized care through partnerships with Rady Children's Health and the USC School of Dentistry.

Civic Engagement
MY VOTE. MY HEALTH.™
Civic engagement empowers individuals to shape decisions affecting their communities through voting, education, and advocacy. AltaMed's My Vote. My Health.™ program advances voter education, advocacy, and coalition-building to engage patients, staff, and communities.

Community Care Fund
EMERGENCY MICRO-GRANTS
Unexpected expenses—like prescriptions or car repairs—can push vulnerable families into crisis. AltaMed's Community Care Fund provides emergency micro-grants to help patients cover urgent costs, preventing unemployment, homelessness, and declining health while stabilizing families during critical moments.

Art and Culture
ART HEALS
AltaMed holds one of the most comprehensive Chicano and Mexican art collections in the world—the only one informing health care practice. Displayed in our clinics, the art reflects patients' lived experiences. Senior art classes and community workshops further promote connection, cultural pride, and healing.

Family Medicine
RESIDENCY PROGRAM
With a vision to become the nation's leading community-based teaching health center, AltaMed established the Family Medicine Residency Program (FMRP) to develop a new generation of family medicine physicians equipped to meet the complex social and medical needs of AltaMed's diverse, multiethnic patient population.

Workforce Development
CAREER PATHWAYS PROGRAM
AltaMed's Workforce Development Program creates career pathways from high school, college, and pre-med programs to clinical licensure. Through mentorship, academic partnerships, tuition support, and hands-on training, we cultivate diverse talent from within—expanding healthcare access while advancing economic mobility in our communities.
Our Impact
Without your support, AltaMed’s life-changing work in the community would not be possible.
